Rome was not built in a day and though the empire is gone, the remnants are still there. There is the Pantheon which serves as the tomb of several kings, the Colosseum where gladiators once fought and the Roman Forum that was once the center of public life.
Aside from the former empire, those who are catholic can visit the seat of the church and get a chance to see the pope in Vatican City.
This place is huge as it has 6 gates which comprise the Vatican Palace, St. Peter’s Square and the Papal Gardens. One of the things that people must not forget to see is the Sistine Chapel which is where tourists can see up close and personal the marvelous piece of artwork done by Michelangelo.
Every hour, the person will even get the chance to see the exchange of the guards. These individuals famously known as the Swiss Guard still wear the old colorful uniform of Helvetian soldiers dating back to the 16th century.
More for aesthetic purposes these days, those who wear the uniform are in charge of protecting the pope similar to the secret service who are in charge of protecting the president.
The Trevi Fountain is another place that should be visited. People can take pictures beside the sculptors and make a wish after throwing in a coin. Tradition has it that those who do this will be able to come back to Rome in the future.
The most famous square in Rome is the Piazza Navona that has a lot of fountains and an old church. This place is very active because of the many shops and restaurants so the person will be able to rest while drinking some coffee, talk with the locals and get some gifts and souvenirs to bring home.
Another palace that has a lot of sculptors and artwork is the Palazza Nuovo. The museum’s façade was designed by Michelangelo as part of the Piazza del Campidoglio renovation. It holds masterpieces like the Discobolus, Dying Galatian and the Marcus Aurelius.
There are two airports where the plane can land so the person can visit Rome. The airline one has chosen may land at Ciampino Airport or at Fiumicino Airport. From there, the individual can rent a car or take a cab to the reserved hotel.
Getting around to visit the sites can be expensive if the person does not know where to go. One can do some research before flying in or get a brochure to know where the bus and trams are located which will surely save money on food and gifts to bring home.
It is a good thing the transport system in Rome is well connected. Buying a metrocard allows the traveler to move around from one place to another similar to the one used in the New York subway system.
Should the group decide to see other cities around Rome, the Termini Stations is not that hard to find. This is very close to the Via Veneto, Santa Marcia Maggiore Church and the Colosseum.
Walking around Rome will be tiring given that some of these places are quite far. Instead of driving that could get the group lost or wasting money on cab fare, the person can check out the public tours that is being offered. This is still much cheaper than hiring a private coach that will also go along the same route.

Sightseeing In United Kingdom (UK)
The most popular territories in Europe are United Kingdom or well known as UK for short. When travel to Europe, keep in mind that you need a separate visa to visit this area of the continent. Make sure that you inform your travel agent beforehand that you wanted United Kingdom to be part of your traveling schedule so that you won’t have any problem in the future of your trip because United Kingdom is not usually part of Europe Tour packages.
I’m sure that you would not want to miss retracing the life of one of the world’s most beloved royalty Princess Diana. Here are some sights in United Kingdom you should try to squeeze in your schedule.
To taste the English kind of life, London is for you - the privileged and the luxurious kind of life. The Original London Walks is London’s South Bank Walk where walking has never been more relaxing and leisurely. Having an unguided stroll through this path while smelling the breeze of the Thames River is something you cannot do in other countries that are too developed because most of those cities will be filled with big buildings so the city sidewalk is all you have along with the noisy cars.
You also have to check out Harrods’s to get a taste of English shopping. The home of the royalties that is the Buckingham Palace has been the residence of the royal bloods since Queen Victoria’s time.
Ireland is home to a lot of the legendary authors of all time. Discover how many of them grew up or even better stay there longer and try your hand at writing. There are surely some inspirations you can pick up in the busy streets and in the lonely unpaved roads to the provinces.
Drop by Sligo to have a taste of Irish culture and to see for your eyes why WB Yeats loved this place so much. While you are there, take home a seashell with you. The locals have this penchant for shell fish primarily because of the fact that the literal translation of Sligo is place of shells.
One of the wonder of the nature are The Rock of Gibraltar. A movie was made about it and starred by Drew Barrymore when she was still a kid. It’s has been there even before the British come. The Strait of Gibraltar links two big bodies of water – the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. There is something about the place that is truly special for the British to fight over Spain just to continue its domination. In case you did not know the famous designer John Galliano is from this place.
These are just some of the many stops and sights in United Kingdom. There are still so many other worthy places to visit that are frequent favorites or obscure ones waiting to be discovered. The sights to see in United Kingdom are boundless. It is no wonder why one of Europe’s biggest businesses is its tourism industry. Imagine United Kingdom is just a portion of Europe. If you are overwhelmed by all the possibilities then think very carefully about the objective of your vacation. From then on you can start jotting down the places you want to visit and cut them down if you think you are going to have problems due to time constraint.

Visiting Slovakia

When Czech republic disintegrated after the end of the cold war, smaller countries began to emerge. One of these is Slovakia that is located in between Czechoslovakia and Hungary.
Slovakia is a small country that has about 5 million inhabitants and is a member of the European Union. Surveys shows that more people are visiting since this is something new and is less expensive. The capital of this country is Bratislava. Given that industrialized neighbors surround it, it is not difficult for tourists to arrive to this country by plane or by train. In the capital itself likes the Bratislava castle. This is located on top of a hill overlooking the Danube river. Visitors can get up to the towers to get a view of the city below and the countryside.
Various invaders have used this castle as a forward base. The government uses this as a venue to hold special events and exhibitions. Inside, there is also a museum, which features archaeological finds. The castle is only happen from Tuesday to Sunday. This means tourists should find another place to visit on a Monday since this is closed.
Religion played a huge role in this country’s history. One of these places is St. Martin’s Cathedral on Castle Hill where 19 rules of this land were crowned. Visitors will appreciate the Gothic architecture and it is okay to take the time admiring the place given that it is free of charge.
The archbishop’s palace is another place to visit while exploring the capital. Years ago, this is where the archbishop will hold office but the one who uses this now is the mayor. Since there are many rooms, this has also been used as a venue to hold exhibits. Guests can drop by to check it out or join a group to explore the various rooms. Tourists will be able to interact more with the locals by visiting the Old town. Michael’s Gate is located at the eastern entrance and is the only surviving watchtower that was used to warn the villages if there was any danger.
In the gate, lies a tower that is 50 meters in height. People can take pictures here and see some of the antiques at the nearby museum. Going further, the person will reach the Main Square. There is an outdoor café for the group to rest and have a cup of coffee. There are also some shops and a few meters away lies The Church of the Holy Savior. Two other places to visit here are the Gothic Franciscan Church and Mirbach’s Palace that has a lot of art work dating back to the Renaissance Period.
People who want to hear good music can get tickets to watch a show at the Slovak Opera House. There are also some ballet performances held here so the person should check what is showing before going in. Outside the opera house is Ganymede’s fountain. People can toss a coin and make a wish just like the Trevis Fountain in Italy.
Slovakia is home to many Jews. Though the people were persecuted and driven out to concentration camps, there are many who have moved back there today. The individual can check out the Zsigray Mansion on Zidovska Street, which has been converted into a Museum of Jewish culture.

Enjoying a Fun Filled Vacation in Spain
A miles south in the Atlantic Ocean lies Spain. This country has more than 4 centuries of rich history and culture that makes it the third most visited places in the world.
Spain has more than 10 cities that make up this country. Each of these places is worth visiting if only the person has the time. This is the reason some tourists stay as long as two or three days before moving on to other cities to appreciate the sights.
One city that is located in the eastern tip of Spain is Barcelona. Aside from this being the venue of the 2002 Olympics, it also has marvelous church called the La Sagrada Familia, the fortress known as the Castell de Montjuic and the La Casa Mila, which are homes that have beautiful balconies and chimneys.
Those who love going to Museums should pay a visit to Madrid that is the capital of Spain. There are over 50 museums to check out and a huge palace that has 2600 rooms which is hard to visit in just one day.
Another city close to the bay of Biscay is Bilbao. Often considered to be the American version of Detroit, it is no wonder that there is a lot of steel work going on such as the Guggenheim museum.
The most festive in this place is the Semana Grande where a major bullfighting event is held. Tourists can also eat, drink and be merry with the locals since the parties are from dusk until dawn.
The city of Madrid is another nice place to visit. It has rose gardens and the Crystal palace. Those who want to see the king and queen may get lucky by going to the Palacio Real, which is the home to the Spanish monarchy.
The most visited place in Madrid is the Paseo del Prado. Its has artwork both of Spanish and some international artists. Another place is the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia that has on display the works of Dali, Miro and Picasso.
Spain can be visited at almost any time of the year. This is because the parties and the festivities just keep on coming such as the bull run or a similar version of the Mardi Gras.
Those who may find the weather to be too cold or hot should visit Spain during May to September when it is considered to be just right.
The individual should bring a few memory cards along with that digital camera since carrying around rolls of film is quite difficult visiting the various sights.
Spain is the fashion capital. One should dress in bright colors to be able to blend in with the locals that could help get discounts when shopping for gifts and other items from the shops on the road. Women can wear a dress while the men can walk around in linen clothing.
Visitors are encouraged to wear sandals or rubber shoes. This will prevent the feet from getting sore after walking around the various places from the morning until the day ends in the early afternoon.
Those who want to check out Spain should bring a jacket and perhaps an umbrella should it rain because the weather changes especially in the mountains or by the sea.

Sweden : The Jewel Within
Another Nordic country considered one of the best places to choose as travel destination is Sweden. Belonging to the Scandinavian group with common culture, Sweden is proud to unravel its majestic close distance to the Arctic, beautiful metropolis and the rest of the area with low population density except in the capital.Swedish people basically enjoy a high standard of living since 1930 with all the luxury a modern world can extend to every advanced country of good economic standing. It became a part of the European Union in 1995 together with Finland and Austria after silently keeping neutral in a cold war with the unified nations.
Sweden has temperate climate although its latitude location is in the North. The gulf adjacent to it played an important role in giving it a better climate with less harsher winters, though like most countries hit by the Arctic belt, the sun does not set in summers and it has periods endless winter night for a period of time. Aurora Borealis of northern lights can be experienced in the Swedish skies every winter. Being called "land of the midnight sun" like Norway, this happens because of the periodical winter nights with no sunset in the northern part of Sweden. Its boundary is separated from Norway by a mountain range running longitudinal along the peninsula.
While Sweden shares a common culture and historical background with its neighboring Nordic countries, the country has a distinct diversity of its own. Here are the travel options you can read if you choose to visit the fabulous places in Sweden:
STOCKLHOLM
Sweden's capital boasts its natural beauty with more than 30% of the area devoted to opens spaces and parks for a greener environment. Stockholm has exquisite architectural buildings, ornate monuments, museums, and superb landscape. It has a unique island, in the city, Gamla Stan, actually an old town much attributed to medieval influences, a place perfect to start a good travel in the heart of the capital. With the hint of classic touch, the city unravels homely cobblestones making right of way to antique shops, old-fashioned boutiques, studios, and other cozy commercial establishments.
SKIING RESORTS
One of the largest Northern Skiing resort with world-class amenities is the slopes of Are, adjacent to Duved known for alpine sports. It has accommodation for heli-skiing and other extreme sport adventures like sleighing with dogs, snow boarding, ice climbing and the like. For the benefit of less active tourists or beginners, it has options for easy skiing for children and the novices. Aside from the ice adventure, it also offers other sports like mountain biking, kayaking, hiking and leisure walking, mountain climbing and trekking.
MEDIEVAL DELIGHT
Sweden is keeping the assets of medieval times with the grandeur of its medieval castles restored until the present day. The grand castles are owned by private individuals, royal families, government and institutions, where the structures are spread all over the country as monumental glory. The structures have been maintained since the medieval period, including the recent architectural buildings of the 19th century renaissance era. These castles can be considered priceless historical heritage of Sweden.
The mentioned places are just a few of what can be expected of Sweden, cradled by the gifts of modern accomplishment and with the remnants of priceless antiquity. Sweden can offer both of this in one adventure.

Enjoying the Sights and Slopes of Switzerland
Switzerland is known as the smallest sovereign state in the world. It has a high cost of living so those who want to enjoy it should plan a vacation instead of moving here.
Tourists will be able to take a plane and land in Zurich. Here, visitors will be able to enjoy the old town area that is the main shopping district. People will be able to buy some items and not just chocolate that this country is known for.
The person can probably catch a show at the Zurich opera house, say a little prayer at the Fraumunster Church and enjoy a breath of fresh air or a little sailing at Lake Zurich.
Since Switzerland has a lot of other magnificent places to visit, getting on board a train or renting a car can get the individual to the next destination which is the city of Berne.
Here, people will be able to see the Berne Clock Tower, the Munster Cathedral and the Bundeshhaus where parliament is in session.
The city also has a lot of fountains that represent the Cantons of Switzerland and guests will love to get a slice of bread as a snack that is considered to be the best in Europe.
Those who love to ski or would like a lesson can go to the Matterhorn Zermatt. This resort is not only for those who want to scale down a mountain but also is a place where tourists can relax and enjoy the white covered landscape.
The city of Lucerne is another place worth visiting while exploring Switzerland. The group can walk and interact among the locals at the old town or enjoy walking by the lake. The Chapel Bridge and Water Tower must not be missed. The same goes for the fine museums that include the Picasso, Rosengart and Wagner museum.
What does the International Red Cross or the World Bank have in common? The headquarters of these offices are in the city of Geneva. The old town which has stood for centuries is still worth visiting even if its popularity has been shifted away to the activities done by these world organizations.
Those who want to enjoy the festivities with the locals should find time to come during the month of February. This is because of the carnival that will take place putting everyone is in a festive mood that will have bands, circus acts and parades the entire week.
This occasion also marks the beginning of spring and tourist and locals can buy fresh flowers at discounted prices. There are also fruits that can be eaten while going on another trip into the mountains.
If the person should visit in July, there is the jazz festival set at the waterfront of Lac Leman. Those who want to catch fireworks should be there during the first of August while people who want to see some Swiss wrestling should witness in the Emmental area a few miles due east of the city of Bern.
Those who want to travel to Switzerland should bring a lot of warm clothes since the weather is cold throughout the year. Other activities that can be done aside from skiing are hiking and mountain climbing as long the proper footwear and gear are available.
Switzerland can be toured in less than three days. From here, the group can travel by train or car to other countries such as France, Austria, Belgium or Germany.

Visiting Ukraine
Many people have visited the countries of Western Europe such as France, Germany and Italy. As the cold war ended, it has opened new tourism routes towards the East. One of these countries that has a rich culture and lots of places to see is no other than Ukraine.
This country can trace its roots somewhere in the 5th to 6th century when the first settlers decided to make a town. As the population grew, it became a city and this name has not changed. This is also the capital of this country known today as Kiev.
International flights arrive at the Borispol International Airport that is 40 kilometers from the city center. Visitors have to pass either through the green or red corridors. The documents that have been filled upon entry will have to be presented when leaving the country.
Kiev has another airport that is much closer to the capital. This is called Zhuliany-Kyiv, and only caters to domestic flights. A good advise to go around the city is to have the destination written in Russian or Ukrainian since the local cab drivers do not understand or speak the English language.
One of the things that tourist will appreciate in the Ukraine aside from culture is the arts. It has paintings and sculptors from all over the globe. Visitors can see it at the National Art Museum.
Another good place is the Lviv Art Gallery in 2 Stefanyk street, which holds more than 53,000 masterpieces. Some of the famous artists who have work exhibited there are Goya,
de la Turet and Goya.
Ukraine also has one of the oldest churches in the world namely St. Sophia Cathedral that was build in the 11th century. Not far from this building is the Mariyinsky Palace that was one of the homes of the Tsar.
People have to remember for a time that Ukraine was part of the Russian empire and much of the history and culture comes from these people. The palace is now used to hold presidential functions and other high level events.
Those who are thinking of studying in this country can visit the Kyiv Mohyla Academy. Build in the early 17th century, this is Eastern Europe’s first ever
center of higher learning.
While Germany has the Rhine, Ukrainians are proud of the River Odessa. Here, people will enjoy the fresh air while strolling by the bay and also get to see monuments dedicated to those who fought and died during the Crimean War.
A few feet away, lies another important landmark namely the governor’s palace where a footbridge called the Tyoschin Most, lies across the gorge. Ukrainians are very health conscious which is why there are a lot of health spas in town. Tourists who are tired of walking and need to rest the body especially the legs should try either the Morshyn or the Truskavets. The Morshyn is a regional health spa and the focus is warm and friendly personalized attention. The Truskaets is bigger and offers other things since it also has a gym, mud baths, natural
springs and massages.
Sightseeing is just one of the things people do on vacation. The tourist must also remember to relax and have fun. From the From the hotel, people can hook up with a tour guide to see the various sights so the trip will be a learning and pleasant experience for all.

However, when kingdoms are subjects in issue, nothing in prominence and style presenting emotional and uplifting impact compares that of the established political issue of kingships of England. It runs parallel in popularity to the magnificence of ancient Roman Empire, and the infamous style of the vain Roman emperors exploiting people in combat in the arena for their lust in life.
The English aristocracy with superior feeling being on the classic social level can't be questioned. It runs in their blood owing to the lines of kingships maintained to signify past glories in classic era in actual kingship.

Why Vacation in Europe

There is no doubt that there are millions of people out there, not only Americans but other nationalities as well, who dream of spending that one dream vacation in Europe. There are so many places to go to but Europe has charmed its way into the hearts of a lot of many people as the destination for all sorts of things and occasions.
There are so many unforgettable movies with Europe as its setting. There is Under the Tuscan Sun that tackled a very beautiful story with most of the unforgettable scenes and most of the character’s important realizations happening in a small, obscure village in Tuscany.
In what seems to be the toast movie of the publishing slash fashion industry, The Devil Wears Prada, the characters are all crazy about going to the Paris Fashion Week and be the first to witness the unfolding of the world’s best designers’ collections. There are also films that are now viewed as masterpieces and were once filmed in historic Germany or in the streets of Madrid. All these make people even more excited at the prospect of going to Europe.
Among all the other continents, vacationing in Europe tops most people’s list mainly because of the different sites to see and the various cultures to experience. England seems to be getting a lot of attention because of the very popular royal family including the late Princess Diana.
London’s One Downing Street is one of the most familiar addresses around the world. Paris is known as the fashion capital of the world so obviously you go there for shopping but France, if you go beyond Paris, has more to offer.
The provinces offer tranquil havens for weary souls. Spain has flamenco and a lot of other festivities that attract happy go lucky people who want to dance their emotions away or learn a new dance skill that you can teach to people when you go home.
The Berlin wall is a landmark like no other. Its importance to the modern world is something that cannot be denied and even if it was torn down, nothing can ever destroy what it stands for at least not anytime soon. Vatican City is visited not only by Catholics but also by people of other religious faiths. One of the city’s greatest but saddest moments was the death of Pope John Paul II. For one day, leaders of nations and millions flocked to the city to pay their respects to one great leader.
So you see there is nothing like a vacation in Europe. All you have to do is to really plan your vacation so you will be able to cover the countries you want to cover for the entire period of your visit. Tours and packages are available all year round but have their own advantages and disadvantages.
Some tours and packages are crammed so you do not really get to explore as much as you can but they can also help you go to more areas even for just a short period of time. If you are game to go backpacking then that will be a different kind of adventure but can still be fit for Europe as long as you just take the right stuff with you and more importantly the right company to join you.
