Visiting Ukraine

Many people have visited the countries of Western Europe such as France, Germany and Italy. As the cold war ended, it has opened new tourism routes towards the East. One of these countries that has a rich culture and lots of places to see is no other than Ukraine.

This country can trace its roots somewhere in the 5th to 6th century when the first settlers decided to make a town. As the population grew, it became a city and this name has not changed. This is also the capital of this country known today as Kiev.

International flights arrive at the Borispol International Airport that is 40 kilometers from the city center. Visitors have to pass either through the green or red corridors. The documents that have been filled upon entry will have to be presented when leaving the country.

Kiev has another airport that is much closer to the capital. This is called Zhuliany-Kyiv, and only caters to domestic flights. A good advise to go around the city is to have the destination written in Russian or Ukrainian since the local cab drivers do not understand or speak the English language.

One of the things that tourist will appreciate in the Ukraine aside from culture is the arts. It has paintings and sculptors from all over the globe. Visitors can see it at the National Art Museum.
Another good place is the Lviv Art Gallery in 2 Stefanyk street, which holds more than 53,000 masterpieces. Some of the famous artists who have work exhibited there are Goya, de la Turet and Goya.

Ukraine also has one of the oldest churches in the world namely St. Sophia Cathedral that was build in the 11th century. Not far from this building is the Mariyinsky Palace that was one of the homes of the Tsar.

People have to remember for a time that Ukraine was part of the Russian empire and much of the history and culture comes from these people. The palace is now used to hold presidential functions and other high level events.

Those who are thinking of studying in this country can visit the Kyiv Mohyla Academy. Build in the early 17th century, this is Eastern Europe’s first ever center of higher learning.
While Germany has the Rhine, Ukrainians are proud of the River Odessa. Here, people will enjoy the fresh air while strolling by the bay and also get to see monuments dedicated to those who fought and died during the Crimean War.

A few feet away, lies another important landmark namely the governor’s palace where a footbridge called the Tyoschin Most, lies across the gorge. Ukrainians are very health conscious which is why there are a lot of health spas in town. Tourists who are tired of walking and need to rest the body especially the legs should try either the Morshyn or the Truskavets. The Morshyn is a regional health spa and the focus is warm and friendly personalized attention. The Truskaets is bigger and offers other things since it also has a gym, mud baths, natural springs and massages.

Sightseeing is just one of the things people do on vacation. The tourist must also remember to relax and have fun. From the From the hotel, people can hook up with a tour guide to see the various sights so the trip will be a learning and pleasant experience for all.

The English aristocracy with superior feeling being on the classic social level can't be questioned. It runs in their blood owing to the lines of kingships maintained to signify past glories in classic era in actual kingship.

Why Vacation in Europe

There is no doubt that there are millions of people out there, not only Americans but other nationalities as well, who dream of spending that one dream vacation in Europe. There are so many places to go to but Europe has charmed its way into the hearts of a lot of many people as the destination for all sorts of things and occasions.

There are so many unforgettable movies with Europe as its setting. There is Under the Tuscan Sun that tackled a very beautiful story with most of the unforgettable scenes and most of the character’s important realizations happening in a small, obscure village in Tuscany.

In what seems to be the toast movie of the publishing slash fashion industry, The Devil Wears Prada, the characters are all crazy about going to the Paris Fashion Week and be the first to witness the unfolding of the world’s best designers’ collections. There are also films that are now viewed as masterpieces and were once filmed in historic Germany or in the streets of Madrid. All these make people even more excited at the prospect of going to Europe.

Among all the other continents, vacationing in Europe tops most people’s list mainly because of the different sites to see and the various cultures to experience. England seems to be getting a lot of attention because of the very popular royal family including the late Princess Diana.

London’s One Downing Street is one of the most familiar addresses around the world. Paris is known as the fashion capital of the world so obviously you go there for shopping but France, if you go beyond Paris, has more to offer.

The provinces offer tranquil havens for weary souls. Spain has flamenco and a lot of other festivities that attract happy go lucky people who want to dance their emotions away or learn a new dance skill that you can teach to people when you go home.

The Berlin wall is a landmark like no other. Its importance to the modern world is something that cannot be denied and even if it was torn down, nothing can ever destroy what it stands for at least not anytime soon. Vatican City is visited not only by Catholics but also by people of other religious faiths. One of the city’s greatest but saddest moments was the death of Pope John Paul II. For one day, leaders of nations and millions flocked to the city to pay their respects to one great leader.

So you see there is nothing like a vacation in Europe. All you have to do is to really plan your vacation so you will be able to cover the countries you want to cover for the entire period of your visit. Tours and packages are available all year round but have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Some tours and packages are crammed so you do not really get to explore as much as you can but they can also help you go to more areas even for just a short period of time. If you are game to go backpacking then that will be a different kind of adventure but can still be fit for Europe as long as you just take the right stuff with you and more importantly the right company to join you.
